Boca West Golf Club

Constructed on the site of the former golf club, this new 155,000 square foot home for golf at Boca West provides members with expansive locker rooms, covered cart staging and an extensive pro shop.

In addition, the facility provides administrative offices, flexible multi-purpose rooms, enlarged card rooms, as well as two feature restaurants, the casual dining Grand Central and fine dining venue Prime Cut. Opened in March 2017, the project was particularly challenging as the new Club was integrated into the attached Social Club and Engineering Buildings, which remained in operation for members throughout the construction project.

Hope Valley Country Club

Founded in 1926, Hope Valley Country Club, located in Durham, North Carolina, is a historical club facility overlooking a Donald Ross designed golf course. Over the years, this Tudor style gem, originally designed by Avnar Embury II, has seen numerous additions in a variety of architectural styles. The Club sought a design solution which would improve the Club’s image, address the membership’s desire for outdoor dining and provide much needed expanded swimming and lounging facilities.

In 2013, ADPG designed additions were completed that unified these disparate architectural elements, providing members with a much needed and well received Covered Dining Verandah overlooking the extensive new pools and terraces designed by land planning and design firm Stewart. The ADPG designed pool cabanas help unify these pool facilities with the Clubhouse above.

The Sea Island Cloister Hotel

In 2006, ADG served as the design architects on a replacement for the much beloved but deteriorated original Cloister hotel designed in the early 20’s by Addison Misner. With a painstaking effort by the development team, the new hotel preserves and respects the best of the old, including the reconstruction of the original Spanish Lounge, while creating spectacular new amenities which now take better advantage of the setting on the Black Banks River.

While flood requirements necessitated elevating the new hotel, all of the giant historic oaks were relocated and preserved. Throughout the hotel, there is extensive use of heavy timber, coral and cast stone, reflecting the storied architectural vocabulary of the original hotel. This Forbes 5 star hotel includes 33 guest suites in the Main Building and 68 guest rooms in the attached North and South Buildings. The Plantation Center provides a variety of Meeting and Banquet Facilities accommodating banquets up to 300 guests. Extensive award winning dining and lounge facilities overlook the river and yacht facilities. Guests enjoy the nearby Cloister Spa and Fitness Facility and Beach Club.

The Sea Island Beach Club

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Addison Misner inspired Sea Island Beach Club serves as the recreational home for the adjacent Cloister Hotel. The Club offers guests a vast array of amenities, including 3 distinct pools, cabanas and lounge areas, indoor and outdoor dining and bar facilities, and meeting and ballroom facilities.

A kid’s camp provides numerous spaces for activities supported by a ‘kids only’ dining room. The Club also includes a 100 seat movie theater as well as a poolside arcade with specialty food and retail shops. The upper two levels of the Club contain 18 two and three bedroom hotel suites. Additional guest accommodations are provided at the adjacent Terrace Suites and Beach Club Ocean and Garden Suites.

The Sea Island Cloister Spa & Fitness Center

Completed in 2006, the 65,000 sf compound, adjacent to the Cloister Hotel, provides guests with extensive spa, fitness, pool, squash and tennis amenities. This Forbes 5 star facility is designed around a theme of the rejuvenating power of water, emanating from a central fountain and meandering to coy ponds, relaxation gardens, roaring therapeutic waterfalls and the indoor natatorium.

The Addison Misner inspired building provides separate locker and relaxation areas for spa and fitness users. The facilities tennis pro shop and stadium exhibition court is surrounded by 7 additional hartrue courts.

The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs

The colonial style Lodge of Kauri Cliffs resort is set on the North Eastern Shore of New Zealand’s North Island, over looking Matauri Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Named “Best new international golf course of 2001” by Golf Digest, and Conde’ Nast Traveler “2002 Hot List; The year’s 52 top new hotels”, and also “The #1 International Golf Hotel by Golf Digest 2009-2010”.

Set high on an outcropping overlooking the Championship golf course designed and constructed by David Harman, the Clubhouse with its wrap-around verandas, offers guests a 360 degree view of the magnificent rolling hills, fairways and Pacific Ocean, while relaxing beside one of the several fireplaces or dinning in the open air.

Research Triangle High School

Architectural Design and Planning Group was commissioned in 2011 to assist in identifying locations and developing plans for the innovative new Research Triangle High School. This 4 year charter school was founded to expand upon the work of the Community Science Center, a groundbreaking effort to interest students in math and science through hands on collaboration with Research Triangle companies. The school emphasizes teaching by blending digital material and collaborative experiences. A strong emphasis is placed on encouraging student resourcefulness and self discipline.

After a challenging search for a suitable location, Research Triangle found an exceptional location for the new school at Park Center on Davies Drive. ADPG prepared master plans for the school campus and design and construction documents for Phase 1, encompassing the 9th grade. Construction was completed in August, 2012. Design documents for Phase 2, which includes the 10th and 11th grades, have been completed and construction is scheduled for completion in July, 2013. With a strong vision defined by the school’s leaders, students spend a significant amount of their time outside of traditional classrooms in a communal “café”, where discussions, free thinking and collaborative work can occur.

Construction of Phase 3 will occur in 2015, and will include additions to the existing building. Plans for this expansion will be based on an evolving building program defined by the experiences as the school matures. Also envisioned in this phase will outdoor learning labs and gathering space adjacent to the school.

Cloister Cottages

Situated adjacent to the Cloister Hotel in Sea Island Georgia, this village of 24 townhouses designed for Exclusive Resorts reflects the Addison Misner themed architecture of the island. Each of the duplex townhouses consists of 4 large bedroom/bath suites surrounding a two story clerestoried, heavy timbered Great Room and Kitchen which opens onto an outdoor walled terrace and private pool.

Amenities include heavy timber ceilings in the master guest room and fireplaces in the two master bedrooms. Guests of the Cloister Cottages enjoy all of the amenities of the Cloister Resort, including hotel, beach club, tennis and spa.

Aberdeen Golf & Country Club – Fitness, Tennis, & Aquatics Facility

In 2007, this new full-service swim, tennis and fitness center opened to members to compliment the adjoining main clubhouse earlier designed by ADPG.

This facility provides members with indoor and outdoor dining areas, exhibition tennis and pro shop and state of the art fitness facilities overlooking a multi-tiered resort pool and the lake and golf course beyond.
